Brenda Vase: Layered Colour and Ballotton Murano Glass
Brenda draws directly from Murano's glassmaking tradition while using colour and transparency to create a distinctly contemporary object.
Its defining feature is the relationship between coloured transparent glass and the even ballotton texture enclosed between layers of clear glass. Rather than sitting only on the exterior surface, the pattern appears to exist within the body of the vase itself.
This layered construction gives Brenda unusual visual depth: colour, texture and reflections overlap as the viewing angle changes.
Two Colour Combinations
Brenda is available in polished Amber/Topaz and Green/Topaz.
The Amber/Topaz version creates a warm tonal transition, while Green/Topaz introduces a stronger contrast between natural green and golden tones. In both versions, the surrounding clear glass allows light to travel through the colours rather than flattening them.
The polished surface strengthens this effect by reflecting the room around the vase.
Compact Form, Detailed Surface
Available in heights of 19 and 21 cm, Brenda is relatively compact, making it easy to position on dining tables, consoles, shelves and smaller pieces of furniture.
Its scale encourages closer viewing, where the ballotton texture and layered construction become particularly visible.
Brenda can hold flowers, but its internal pattern and changing transparencies give it enough visual interest to work as a decorative Murano glass object on its own.
Each vase is handcrafted in Murano, and subtle variations are a natural part of the handmade process.
Brenda brings a traditional Venetian texture into the present through layers of transparent colour. A small object with surprising depth when seen in changing light.
