Disko Vase: Hand-Carved Murano Glass with a Contemporary Edge
Disko begins in the furnace and finds its final character in the cold shop.
The vase is first worked hot by Roberto Beltrami and his team of glassmakers to establish its sculptural form. Once cooled, the piece enters a second stage of craftsmanship: its surface is individually carved with a diamond wheel.
This combination of hot and cold working gives Disko its distinctive appearance, transforming the glass from a smooth blown form into a more tactile, visually complex object.
A Surface Shaped by Hand
The carving is not simply an applied decorative motif. It changes the way light moves across the entire vase.
Instead of the continuous reflections of polished glass, the matte surface catches light more softly, while the carved areas create changes in depth, shadow and texture. Because this finishing work is performed by hand, every Disko develops subtle differences of its own.
Available in Matte Orange and Matte Amethyst, the colour reinforces the sculptural quality of the surface rather than competing with it.
Made to Stand on Its Own
At 37 cm high, Disko has enough presence to become a focal point on a console, sideboard, dining table or pedestal. Flowers can add another dimension, but they are not necessary: the combination of form, colour and hand-carved texture gives the vase the presence of a decorative glass sculpture.
Its contemporary character also makes Disko easy to place alongside modern furniture, natural materials and restrained interiors where a single expressive object can change the balance of a room.
